Signals
Red to green to yellow then back to red
I clearly see it through my window
a soft slow blink on these dark walls
making me feel less alone.
Sometimes I hear a click
a metallic snap
slowing cars down
forcing rests
chasing
home.
This is part of the weekly Tanka Tuesday challenge hosted by WordCraftPoetry - the first Tuesday of the month is "poets choice" from their long list of possible styles.
This week, I'm experimenting with a different format, one that is new to me, called Etheree. This poetic format features ten lines that follow the syllabic count of 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 (or the reverse of that count). It's pretty cool, and I think I will work with it again for sure!
